New World Phasmids was established to offer high-level technical consultancy for any project related to phasmids (stick and leaf insects), with a particular emphasis on the biodiversity of the Americas. Our work is a direct response to a critical paradox: while biodiversity disappears at an accelerated pace, the specialists capable of identifying it are becoming extinct, and the academic system is progressively abandoning technical training in applied systematics.
This project is led by Pablo Valero Riquelme, a specialist in New World phasmid systematics with 10 years of experience and an active researcher. His scientific contribution, which includes the description of 30 species and 4 genera new to science, guarantees the rigour of a technical direction designed to ensure that findings transcend simple observation.
In a scenario where only 12% of the world's territory has been sampled for insects, we do not limit ourselves to expert consultancy in Phasmida. We are the strategic ally for students, naturalists, and researchers with taxonomic projects involving any insect order; we provide the methodological support and scientific validation that the institutional system has ceased to guarantee.
