New World Phasmids began as a key initiative to bring the world of science closer to society, with a particular focus on entomology and taxonomy.

Our aim is to share the intriguing biology of phasmids (stick insects) from the New World, whilst also training new generations of naturalists and emphasising the essential role of taxonomy as the foundation for any biodiversity study or action. Understanding and classifying life are crucial for its protection and for informed decision-making.

We adopt a philosophy centred on experiential learning in nature, complemented by solid theory and a deep appreciation for the value of taxonomy in research and conservation, which in turn benefits society as a whole.

We offer accessible online courses, organise enriching scientific expeditions and create educational resources to inspire curiosity, strengthen scientific knowledge and train future leaders in the field of entomology
